Aranan initially wanted to open a chess cafe. He spoke to a few advisers, and was asked, "So how do you know that there is interest in Chess?"
"Trust me," Aranan replied, which did not seem to whet his inquisitor's appetite.
And so he went about capturing that data! He formed what was then known as 'British Asian Chess Association (BACA)', in order to gauge how much interest there actually was in London, whilst simultaneously helping the community learn and enjoy chess.
A journey riddled with milestones, BACA grew from 20-person events, to 40-person events, to 60, to 80, to 130, and so on! Along the way, we rebranded to 'BACA Chess'- it's rolls better off the tongue you see.
In the span of just 5 months, BACA saw 1000+ members in its WhatsApp community, with an increasingly strong social media presence!
Today, our events see crowds of 200+ people, with a mixture of influencers, celebrities, millionaires, teachers, entrepreneurs, and everyone in between! We're incredibly grateful for each and every person that has supported (and continues to support) our journey.
Playing chess has never been so cool...
